What You'll Do10
- 1Record patient medical histories, vital signs, and clinical data directly into EMR systems.
- 2Interview patients to gather medical information and prepare them for examinations.
- 3Escort patients to exam rooms and assist with ambulation, transfers, positioning, and gowning.
- 4Prepare exam rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring readiness for procedures.
- 5Assist physicians during examinations and procedures, anticipating needs and handing tools.
- 6Process prescription refill requests and electronic prescriptions via eRx per provider instructions.
- 7Coordinate lab requisitions, specimen pickups, and schedule STAT diagnostics before patient departure.
- 8Obtain prior authorizations from insurance carriers and verify in-network lab use.
- 9Maintain inventory, restock rooms, monitor expiration dates, and dispose of biohazard waste per OSHA rules.
- 10Clean clinical areas following infection prevention protocols and uphold HIPAA confidentiality.
Requirements10
- 1Medical Assistant certification required.
- 2Current CPR certification required.
- 3High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 4Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- 5Experience with EMR systems preferred.
- 6Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
- 7Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
- 8Manual dexterity for computers and medical equipment.
