
Medical Assistant Externship Coordinator
Overview
Coordinate Medical Assistant externships for a Houston-based healthcare college, owning site partnerships, student placements, and compliance. - 1Build and manage a network of Medical Assistant externship sites, securing diverse placement opportunities.
- 2Drive extern-to-hire conversion to 40% or higher by coaching students and aligning site needs.
- 3Conduct site visits to monitor student progress, resolve issues, and sustain partner relationships.
- 4Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards, including TWC regulations.
- 5Collaborate with Career Services and Placement teams to support students' transition to employment.
- 6Guide students on attendance, professionalism, and performance expectations during externships.
- 7Deliver externship orientations and assist with resume writing and interview preparation.
- 8Maintain accurate records: timecards, evaluations, and affiliation agreements.
- 9Track student progress and complete final evaluations and exit interviews.
- 10Promote the externship program through outreach and networking with healthcare organizations.
Requirements5
- 13+ years of practical experience in the medical field.
- 2Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required.
- 3Phlebotomy Certification and Patient Care Technician (PCT) Certification required.
- 4CPR certification preferred.
- 5Passion for mentoring students and supporting their professional development.
