You will not just observe, you will drive patient outcomes from intake to post-op.

What You'll Do10

  • 1Interview patients to capture medical history, medications, and allergies, then document in EHR systems like Epic or Cerner.
  • 2Prepare exam and procedure rooms, maintaining sterile fields and inspecting equipment to ensure readiness for dermatologic surgery.
  • 3Administer medications and injections following the five rights protocol, verifying dosage and expiration dates.
  • 4Collect and log blood and tissue specimens, then process and prepare them for lab testing with accurate labeling.
  • 5Explain treatment plans, wound care, and medication instructions to patients, ensuring comprehension and compliance.
  • 6Assist providers during biopsies and excisions, handing instruments and monitoring patient status throughout.
  • 7Authorize prescription refills under provider direction and communicate with pharmacies to coordinate patient care.
  • 8Perform routine lab tests and analyze samples, documenting all results in the patient record within 24 hours.
  • 9Dispose of biohazard waste safely and sanitize rooms and equipment between patients, adhering to OSHA standards.
  • 10Manage inventory and order medical supplies monthly to maintain adequate stock for procedures and daily operations.

Requirements10

  • 1Bachelor's degree in any field, with a strong academic record and intent to pursue medical school, PA school, nursing, or other healthcare programs.
  • 212-month minimum commitment to hands-on clinical training and patient care.
  • 3Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, families, and clinical staff.
  • 4Strong attention to detail and ability to document accurately in EHR systems.
  • 5Ability to multitask in a busy clinical setting, managing multiple patient needs.
  • 6Previous clinical experience is a plus but not required; on-the-job training provided.
  • 7BLS certification preferred but not required at start.
  • 8Flexibility to work full-time hours, including occasional evenings or weekends.
  • 9Commitment to patient safety and adherence to clinical protocols.
  • 10Professional demeanor and ability to maintain patient confidentiality under HIPAA.
