Medical Assistant, Dermatology Clinic
Overview
Medical Assistants at DOCS Dermatology Group own the full patient care cycle, from intake to procedure support, across a national practice with 200+ providers and 100+ locations. You will work under the supervision of Practice Managers and Physicians, ensuring every visit runs smoothly and safely. With more than 40 years of skin health expertise, this role offers hands-on experience in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. You will directly impact patient outcomes by managing EHR documentation, assisting in procedures, and delivering compassionate care.
What You'll Do10
- 1Verify patient information by interviewing, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of each visit.
- 2Enter medical history and visit data into EHR systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- 3Escort patients to exam rooms, ask pertinent questions, and document responses in EHR.
- 4Prepare patients for exams by providing drapes and materials, taking photographs, and assisting physicians during procedures.
- 5Phone in prescriptions to pharmacies and schedule medical procedures as directed.
- 6Instruct patients on proper medication usage, change wound dressings, remove sutures, and perform in-office phlebotomy.
- 7Collect, log, and package lab specimens for transport; sterilize medical instruments.
- 8Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt; complete phone triage and notify patients of pathology and lab results.
- 9Scribe office visits and administer IM, SQ, and topical medications as ordered.
- 10Perform and document nurse visit appointments including suture removals, UVB, Excimer, Patch Testing, and Biologic injections.
Requirements10
- 1High School diploma or equivalent certificate.
- 2Prior experience in a medical office setting.
- 3Ability to learn center tasks and assist management and physicians.
- 4Self-motivated to achieve the highest patient care and customer service standards.
- 5Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred).
- 6Familiarity with ModMed EMA EMR (preferred).
- 7Thorough understanding of HIPAA law.
- 8Team player with strong communication skills.
- 9Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, lift up to 35 lbs, and perform physical tasks like pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
- 10Close-range observation, hearing at normal conversation levels, and hand dexterity.
