Overview
The Certified Medical Assistant will own patient care in a fast-paced environment serving patients aged 0 to 18 years and adults. You will provide direct care using developmentally appropriate methods and ensure accurate documentation of patient information. This role requires a focus on self-management education and adherence to safety standards.
What You'll Do9
- 1Assist in collecting patient/family data including biophysical psychosocial developmental cultural and environmental information
- 2Collect and document vital signs BMI height/weight and reason for visit with 100% accuracy
- 3Update documentation regarding care at other locations current medications allergies and other details per practice protocol
- 4Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during treatments examinations and testing
- 5Complete and document treatments and interventions as directed by the provider within your scope of practice
- 6Document and administer medications and immunizations as directed by the physician
- 7Support families in self-management through patient education assistance
- 8Use medical equipment such as thermometers scales sphygmomanometers stethoscopes butterfly needles hearing/vision screening devices pulse oximetry tympanometry microscopes centrifuges hematology analyzers and specimen collection tools
- 9Perform fundamental pediatric assessments and complete respiratory fit testing in compliance with safety standards
Requirements6
- 1High school diploma or GED
- 2Graduation from a medical assistant or emergency medical technician program or equivalent licensing confirmation
- 3BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- 4One year of related experience preferred
- 5CCMA certification preferred
- 6National certifications such as CMA-AAMA CMA-C AMCA NCMA NRCMA RMA-AAH RMA-AAMP RMA-AMT RMA-ARMA or EMT credentials from Texas Department of State Health Services
