What You'll Do9
- 1Greet and prepare patients for providers, obtaining and recording vital signs, current medications, and presenting problems.
- 2Administer ordered medications and vaccines via oral, injection, topical, rectal, ophthalmic, or inhalant routes.
- 3Draw and collect blood samples, prepare specimens for laboratory analysis, and perform routine tests such as EKGs.
- 4Schedule patients for diagnostic testing and follow up to ensure completion of testing.
- 5Document patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.
- 6Communicate test results and plan of care to patients by phone or mail as directed by the physician.
- 7Prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments, and maintain exam rooms stocked and orderly.
- 8Escalate non-routine issues to the practice manager or healthcare providers, ensuring safety checklists and quality controls are completed.
- 9Provide for patient safety and protection of privacy rights, and assist in the front office as needed.
Requirements10
- 1High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- 2Current CMA certification (required).
- 31 year of Medical Assistant experience (strongly preferred).
- 4Bilingual in English/Spanish (strongly preferred).
- 5Successful completion of THPG Clinical Training program with competency in required skills within 90 days of job entry (required).
- 6ACLS (preferred) or BCLS exception within 90 days of hire (required).
- 7Ability to perform EKGs, draw blood, and administer injections.
- 8Basic computer skills with medical management applications.
- 9Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations.
- 10Demonstrate sound judgment in emergency situations and maintain a professional, patient-focused attitude.
