Mechanical Design Engineer TSC
Overview
TSC seeks a highly motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to support customers in Washington DC. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong background in mechanical systems and equipment. This role involves full-lifecycle engineering from concept development through sustainment of advanced systems and hardware for communication systems.
What You'll Do16
- 1Work with advanced equipment and technologies to support legacy and new mechanical systems
- 2Design and develop robust mechanical and electromechanical systems, assemblies and components
- 3Analyze system requirements and translate them into detailed mechanical design specifications
- 4Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation
- 5Perform tolerance analysis material selection and design-for-manufacturability assessments
- 6Develop and maintain detailed documentation for all design stages
- 7Execute comprehensive test plans for mechanical systems and assemblies
- 8Build assemble and evaluate prototypes to validate designs and performance requirements
- 9Identify troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and system-level issues in urgent scenarios
- 10Perform root cause analysis of failures and implement corrective actions
- 11Support environmental vibration thermal and functional testing activities
- 12Integrate new mechanical systems into existing platforms and infrastructure
- 13Coordinate fabrication assembly installation and maintenance for deployed systems
- 14Maintain routine maintenance upgrades and configuration improvements on mechanical equipment
- 15Collaborate with small team to support customers in understanding needs and providing technical support
- 16Communicate project status and technical information effectively to peers and leadership
Requirements15
- 1Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering Manufacturing Industrial Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
- 25-7 years proven experience in mechanical design and product development
- 3Strong experience with full-lifecycle engineering concepts
- 4Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD/CAM software and technical drawing creation
- 5Hands-on experience with fabrication assembly testing and troubleshooting complex mechanical systems
- 6Understanding of materials machining processes fasteners tolerance stack-ups and manufacturing methods such as additive manufacturing CNC machining injection molding
- 7Experience using hand tools power measurement equipment and shop equipment
- 8Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for customer interaction
- 9Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams
- 10Demonstrated initiative self-motivation and proactive problem solving without constant direction
- 11Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance
- 12Ability to lift and move 50 pounds
- 13U.S. citizenship required
- 14Eligibility to obtain DoD security clearance required
- 15Travel local some relocation assistance available
