Overview
As a Manufacturing Equipment Technician at Shutterfly in Charlotte, NC, you'll own the uptime and performance of high-speed printing and bindery machinery across our 4th shift (Thu-Sun 4pm-4am). You'll install, calibrate, and maintain Muller Martini bindery lines and HP Indigo digital presses, ensuring continuous production at scale. Working in a team of skilled technicians, you'll diagnose 480V electrical and mechanical faults, train operators on best practices, and drive process improvements that reduce downtime. This role stands out with a $27/hr base plus $2 shift differential, full benefits from day one, and a climate-controlled, state-of-the-art facility.
What You'll Do9
- 1Install and configure new printing and bindery equipment such as Muller Martini stitchers and HP Indigo presses, ensuring calibration per spec.
- 2Execute routine and preventive maintenance on Muller Martini, HP Indigo, and other finishing machines to minimize unplanned downtime.
- 3Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults in 480V equipment using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- 4Offer hands-on technical support and training to production staff on operating and troubleshooting Muller Martini and HP Indigo machinery.
- 5Manage spare parts inventory for Muller Martini and HP Indigo equipment, ordering and tracking parts to reduce lead times.
- 6Document all maintenance and repair activity in service logs, noting parts used and repair times for management review.
- 7Collaborate with production teams to identify efficiency improvements and implement changes that cut equipment downtime.
- 8Enforce safety compliance across printing and bindery operations, promoting a culture of safety and safe equipment use.
- 9Train operators on proper equipment use, preventive maintenance, and foundational troubleshooting for Muller Martini and HP Indigo systems.
Requirements8
- 14+ years performing maintenance on high-speed bindery/finishing, digital print, and high-voltage (480V) equipment.
- 2Hands-on experience with Muller Martini bindery lines including stitchers, folders, and cutters.
- 3Proven expertise with HP Indigo digital press equipment, including troubleshooting and calibration.
- 4High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
- 5Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with the ability to read schematics and blueprints.
- 6Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software.
- 7Ability to work 4th shift (Thu-Sun 4pm-4am), stand for 12+ hours, lift up to 50 lbs., and bend, crouch, and kneel regularly.
- 8Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, working independently or in a team.
