Manufacturing Engineering Internship, Robotics
Overview
You will own process improvement and fixture design for NEO, our humanoid robot, at our San Francisco production line. You will join the Manufacturing Engineering team where prototypes become reliable, repeatable hardware. You will work alongside design and engineering teams to close the loop between the bench and the line, driving design-for-manufacturability improvements before parts hit the floor. This role is critical to scaling NEO from prototype to volume production, offering hands-on work with CAD, 3D printing, and CNC machinery.
What You'll Do8
- 1Develop and document repeatable manufacturing and assembly processes for prototype and pre-production parts that others can run reliably.
- 2Build and improve fixtures, jigs, and workflows that reduce build time, scrap, and rework on the line.
- 3Own process validation and durability testing for the parts and assemblies you support, surfacing failure modes early and driving fixes.
- 4Produce and maintain accurate CAD and process documentation so parts and methods can be reproduced reliably across the team.
- 5Partner with design and engineering on the next robot revision to drive design-for-manufacturability improvements before parts hit the floor.
- 6Set up and operate CNC equipment for machining prototype parts to specification.
- 7Create and iterate on 3D printed fixtures and tooling to support assembly processes.
- 8Perform hands-on assembly and post-processing of parts to meet quality standards.
Requirements7
- 1Hands-on experience in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
- 2Basic CAD skills (SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar).
- 3Comfortable doing physical work, including setup, assembly, and post-processing.
- 4Currently studying engineering or a related field.
- 51+ year of experience with 3D printing or CNC machining.
- 6Exposure to design for manufacturability, process validation, or production scale-up.
- 7Prior work on manufacturing processes, fixturing, robotics, mechatronics, or general hardware projects.

Reframesystems
VerifiedMechanical Engineer Co-op, Robotics & Physical AI
You will own mechanical design and prototyping for Reframe Systems' microfactory, delivering high-performance housing with Physical AI and robotics. You'll join a cross-disciplinary team of engineers, architects, and software developers, rotating across active projects that shape factory workcells, fixtures, and tooling. This role is hands-on: you'll cut, weld, and machine your own parts, iterating from rough sketch to production-ready hardware in days, not weeks. What sets this apart is the full-loop ownership: design it, build it, test it, fix it, and ship it.
1X
VerifiedCoatings and Materials Manufacturing Engineer, Robotics
You own the industrialization of advanced coatings, load-bearing fiber systems, and advanced materials for NEO, our humanoid robot shipping to homes. You lead scale-up from lab to high-volume production, specifying equipment, designing production lines, and developing SOPs and work instructions. Working with Mechanical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing, and suppliers, you drive new material technologies from concept to stable production. This role is hands-on and floor-facing, requiring solid industrial production experience and a data-driven approach using DOE, SPC, and PFMEA. You bring deep expertise in chemical engineering or polymer science to solve multidisciplinary challenges where materials and robotics intersect.
Formative 3D
VerifiedAdvanced Manufacturing Technician Formative 3D
You will own large-format robotic and FDM 3D printing operations at Formative 3D in Falls Church VA. This is a hands-on role driving scalable product development through additive manufacturing. The position offers direct impact on sustainable modular furniture systems within a fast-paced startup environment.
Odys-Aviation
VerifiedMechanical Engineering Intern, Propulsion & Electric Powertrain
You will design and integrate mechanical hardware for electric and hybrid-electric propulsion systems at Odys Aviation, supporting the Alta aircraft and Laila UAV. Working onsite in Long Beach, you will own real engineering tasks from CAD to flight hardware integration. You will collaborate with full-time engineers on motors, generators, inverters, and cooling hardware. This role offers hands-on exposure to rapid prototyping and production transition, with a direct path to contributing to certified aircraft.
South Bay Solutions
VerifiedManufacturing Engineer, Precision Machining & Lean
You will own manufacturing processes for high-precision parts in semiconductor, medical devices, and advanced tech hardware, with tolerances measured in microns. You will drive new product introductions (NPI) and continuous improvement across CNC milling, turning, and finishing operations. You will work with a passionate team using top-of-the-line equipment, solving daily production issues and optimizing efficiency. This role stands out for its direct impact on complex, high-stakes components in a shop where craftsmanship matters.
