Manufacturing Engineering Internship, Robotics

You will own mechanical design and prototyping for Reframe Systems' microfactory, delivering high-performance housing with Physical AI and robotics. You'll join a cross-disciplinary team of engineers, architects, and software developers, rotating across active projects that shape factory workcells, fixtures, and tooling. This role is hands-on: you'll cut, weld, and machine your own parts, iterating from rough sketch to production-ready hardware in days, not weeks. What sets this apart is the full-loop ownership: design it, build it, test it, fix it, and ship it.

You own the industrialization of advanced coatings, load-bearing fiber systems, and advanced materials for NEO, our humanoid robot shipping to homes. You lead scale-up from lab to high-volume production, specifying equipment, designing production lines, and developing SOPs and work instructions. Working with Mechanical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Manufacturing, and suppliers, you drive new material technologies from concept to stable production. This role is hands-on and floor-facing, requiring solid industrial production experience and a data-driven approach using DOE, SPC, and PFMEA. You bring deep expertise in chemical engineering or polymer science to solve multidisciplinary challenges where materials and robotics intersect.

You will own large-format robotic and FDM 3D printing operations at Formative 3D in Falls Church VA. This is a hands-on role driving scalable product development through additive manufacturing. The position offers direct impact on sustainable modular furniture systems within a fast-paced startup environment.

You will design and integrate mechanical hardware for electric and hybrid-electric propulsion systems at Odys Aviation, supporting the Alta aircraft and Laila UAV. Working onsite in Long Beach, you will own real engineering tasks from CAD to flight hardware integration. You will collaborate with full-time engineers on motors, generators, inverters, and cooling hardware. This role offers hands-on exposure to rapid prototyping and production transition, with a direct path to contributing to certified aircraft.

You will own manufacturing processes for high-precision parts in semiconductor, medical devices, and advanced tech hardware, with tolerances measured in microns. You will drive new product introductions (NPI) and continuous improvement across CNC milling, turning, and finishing operations. You will work with a passionate team using top-of-the-line equipment, solving daily production issues and optimizing efficiency. This role stands out for its direct impact on complex, high-stakes components in a shop where craftsmanship matters.
