Manufacturing Engineer Powertrain and Electronics
Overview
Joby Aviation seeks a passionate Electronics Manufacturing Engineer to lead process engineering and equipment development for powertrain and electronics. This role transforms concepts into production in a fast-paced high-impact setting. You will own manufacturing processes assembly fixturing tooling and equipment from prototype to production. The ideal candidate is organized self-driven with expertise in mechanical design DFM and quality control.
What You'll Do11
- 1Develop manufacturing processes assembly fixturing tooling and equipment for prototype and production builds
- 2Design and optimize production line layouts focusing on safety ergonomics quality and efficiency
- 3Author clear detailed manufacturing work instructions for consistency and repeatability
- 4Lead process development using statistical methods including GR&R and DoE
- 5Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards
- 6Partner with Design Engineers during prototype builds and NPI
- 7Drive continuous improvement of production lines using Lean Manufacturing principles
- 8Maintain documentation and train staff on updated procedures
- 9Analyze production metrics to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions
- 10Collaborate with supply chain to secure components and manage inventory
- 11Mentor junior engineers through hands-on guidance and feedback
Requirements11
- 1B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years relevant experience
- 2Proficiency in mechanical design including fixture and assembly tooling design
- 3Experience writing manufacturing work instructions and ergonomic workstations
- 4Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T
- 5Hands-on experience across prototype and production environments
- 6Strong problem solving and cross functional collaboration skills
- 75+ years manufacturing or production engineering experience
- 8M.S. in manufacturing or mechanical engineering
- 9Experience in aerospace avionics electric vehicles consumer electronics or medical devices
- 10Familiarity with regulations such as 14 CFR Part 21 ISO9001 ISO 13485 TS16949 or equivalent
- 11Experience in electric motor assembly complex mechanical assembly electronics assembly inverter assembly cooling system assembly or lithium ion battery module pack assembly
Salary Insight
$98 - $135k per year
