Manufacturing Engineer, Electromechanical Sustaining
Overview
You will sustain and improve production of complex electromechanical equipment in a low-volume, high-complexity environment, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on the floor and leading root-cause investigations. You will collaborate with Design Engineering, Quality, Field Service, and Supply Chain on permanent design and process improvements. Working with SAP, you will execute engineering changes, document work instructions, and drive continuous improvement in manufacturability. What You'll Do10
- 1Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical hardware issues during assembly, integration, and final test, implementing robust fixes on the production floor.
- 2Lead root-cause investigations using DFMEA, Fishbone diagrams, and 8D to implement permanent corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
- 3Develop and update assembly instructions, work instructions, and training materials so technicians execute accurately on first attempt.
- 4Execute engineering changes, deviations, and rework directives, coordinating with planning and shop floor teams to minimize schedule disruption.
- 5Contribute to manufacturing readiness reviews, design reviews, and tool risk assessments with a production perspective.
- 6Partner with Design Engineering, Quality, Field Service, and Supply Chain to close the loop on factory and field issues.
- 7Drive continuous improvement in manufacturability, build repeatability, and product quality by identifying patterns and implementing changes.
- 8Sustain production lines for complex electromechanical systems, including vacuum environments, gas delivery, thermal management, motion systems, and contamination-controlled hardware.
- 9Read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, 3D models, BOMs, and documentation including GD&T to identify discrepancies.
- 10Use SAP to process engineering changes, manage deviations, and track material and production data.
Requirements14
- 13+ years in manufacturing engineering, sustaining engineering, or hardware support engineering in low-volume, high-complexity environments.
- 2Proven experience sustaining production lines for complex electromechanical systems and equipment.
- 3Ability to troubleshoot complex electromechanical hardware directly on the production floor.
- 4Strong proficiency in structured problem-solving methods such as DFMEA, 8D, and Fishbone analysis.
- 5Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, 3D models, BOMs, and GD&T.
- 6Experience with manufacturing processes for electromechanical assemblies and complex machines.
- 7Comfort working hands-on with technicians and production line staff during assembly and test activities.
- 8Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- 9Experience with vacuum environments, gas delivery systems, thermal management, motion systems, or contamination-controlled hardware.
- 10Familiarity with ERP systems, with SAP experience preferred.
- 11Experience supporting suppliers or contract manufacturing partners on quality issues, including corrective action processes.
- 12Skill in creating clear process documentation such as Sequence of Operations and Method Instructions.
- 13Experience with manufacturing readiness reviews, design reviews, and tool risk assessments.
- 14Exposure to vacuum pumps, valves, motors, cryopumps, and gas delivery hardware.
