Maintenance Supervisor - Manufacturing
Overview
You will own the 24/7 reliability of production equipment at a chemical plant in Nashville, TN. Leading a team of 10-15 maintenance technicians, you will coordinate daily repairs, plan preventive maintenance, and drive root cause analysis to cut unplanned downtime. You'll partner with engineering, production, and storeroom teams while managing a unionized workforce. This role drives visible impact on safety and uptime, with a strong focus on CMMS planning and TPM practices.
What You'll Do10
- 1Serve as the first point of contact for equipment failures, triaging issues and dispatching technicians to restore operations within the hour.
- 2Coordinate weekly maintenance coverage with the planner, aligning technician skills with scheduled PMs and emergent work orders.
- 3Lead troubleshooting of process upsets and breakdowns, working with engineering and supervisors to re-prioritize work and minimize downtime.
- 4Host daily safety huddles, enforce PPE compliance, and lead incident investigations with corrective action follow-up.
- 5Hire, train, and mentor technicians, setting clear performance expectations and development plans.
- 6Drive CMMS data accuracy, reviewing asset histories and work order details before each job to guide repairs.
- 7Audit tooling and parts inventory weekly, coordinating with the storeroom to stock critical spares and reduce lead time.
- 8Communicate repair status and resource needs to vendors, engineers, and plant management, managing contractor access and safety orientation.
- 9Champion safety procedures, update lockout/tagout documentation, and participate in internal and external audits.
- 10Track technician time and overtime in UKG, balancing labor cost with emergency response needs.
Requirements8
- 13-5 years supervising industrial maintenance teams, with a degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering (or equivalent trades experience).
- 2Hands-on experience with PM, PDM, CMMS, RCM, and TPM methodologies.
- 3Solid knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC troubleshooting.
- 4Proven leadership in a union environment, with the ability to coordinate and motivate hourly staff and contractors.
- 5Strong verbal and technical communication skills, capable of presenting daily updates to plant leadership.
- 6Collaborative spirit, working cross-functionally with engineering, storeroom, and production teams.
- 7Familiarity with food safety and quality programs (e.g., SQF, HACCP).
- 8Experience with UKG or similar timekeeping software for managing attendance and overtime.
