Maintenance Engineer Part Time
Overview
This role owns hotel equipment reliability and guest service response at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Bethesda. You will maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and boiler systems while handling emergency calls. What You'll Do9
- 1Respond to guest service calls via portable radio, prioritizing requests for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical issues.
- 2Perform preventive maintenance on hotel equipment including kitchen, laundry, boiler, pool, and guest rooms.
- 3Monitor building systems during weekends and evenings when full staff is absent, ensuring operational integrity.
- 4React to emergency situations such as fire alarms, power failures, and security threats, coordinating with authorities.
- 5Conduct property rounds to verify equipment function and address any visible maintenance gaps.
- 6Clean and maintain tools and work areas to meet safety and operational standards.
- 7Complete maintenance logs, meter readings, and work order requests, documenting parts used and needed.
- 8Handle elevator breakdowns, following safety protocols and notifying appropriate services.
- 9Support the preventive maintenance program by keeping accurate records and reporting unsafe conditions.
Requirements8
- 16+ months of experience in a similar maintenance role, with a high school diploma or equivalent training.
- 2Ability to repair and maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and perform carpentry and renovation work.
- 3Capability to drive a pick-up truck and operate snow removal equipment when needed.
- 4Skilled in maintaining logs and records with attention to detail.
- 5Professional presentation and teamwork skills, plus independent decision-making.
- 6Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and carry frequently, with 100% mobility for emergency response.
- 7Comfort with frequent bending, kneeling, and climbing stairs (90 steps) and ladders (8 feet).
- 8Willingness to work in varied indoor and outdoor temperatures, including extreme conditions.
