Litigation Resource Team Manager, Environmental Law
Overview
You will create and lead a centralized team of litigation assistants and paralegals providing litigation support across Earthjustice's regional and program offices. You will establish a triage process for support requests, assign work, and provide surge support for trials, hearings, and document reviews. You will report to the Sr. Program Manager of the Litigation Practice team and work hybrid from preferred offices. This role combines direct litigation support with team management and training development, making a direct impact on environmental cases.
What You'll Do10
- 1Establish a central intake point for surge litigation support requests and assign resource team members accordingly.
- 2Develop criteria and protocols for prioritizing work, escalating requests, and resolving competing requests.
- 3Partner with the Sr. Program Manager to measure impact and improve support of the Resource team.
- 4Recruit and maintain a vetted pool of contract paralegals for longer-term needs in partnership with HR Recruitment.
- 5Partner with the Litigation Practice team to develop and deliver organization-wide training for litigation assistants and paralegals.
- 6Build and maintain a centralized knowledge base of litigation resources such as filing guides, templates, and checklists.
- 7Evaluate and implement new tools with litigation leadership, legal operations, and information technology teams.
- 8Provide litigation support including editing, cite-checking, proofreading, formatting, assembling, serving, and filing legal documents.
- 9Draft pleadings or case-related documents such as motions, status reports, procedural pleadings, comment letters, FOIA and public record requests.
- 10Supervise resource litigation assistants and paralegals, including hiring, onboarding, daily oversight, coaching, and performance management.
Requirements10
- 15+ years of paralegal experience spanning state, federal, and appellate courts, including rules and procedures in federal courts and administrative agencies.
- 2Experience supervising a team, ensuring effective team communication and collaboration.
- 3Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- 4Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- 5Ability or demonstrated interest in developing and delivering effective training for adult learners.
- 6Operate with a mentality of service to the organization.
- 7Expert user of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and other software/technology used to support litigation and program work.
- 8Thoughtful evaluator of new tools, where they may improve workflows.
