Overview
You will own the design, development, and delivery of Tableau dashboards and analytics solutions for a Texas state agency, driving data-driven decisions across multiple programs. You will lead a team of developers, collaborating with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable visualizations. This is a senior-level contract role, requiring deep expertise in Tableau and the full SDLC, with the opportunity to shape data strategy in a hybrid Austin-based environment.
What You'll Do9
- 1Lead the full lifecycle of Tableau dashboard development, from requirements gathering to deployment and support, delivering actionable insights within the first 90 days.
- 2Design and build complex Tableau workbooks, data visualizations, and dashboards, using Tableau and SQL to ensure performance and usability.
- 3Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand reporting needs, translating them into technical specifications and sustainable solutions.
- 4Drive the development and implementation of data models and ETL processes using Tableau Prep and SQL to support accurate and timely reporting.
- 5Oversee testing and quality assurance of Tableau deliverables, ensuring they meet agency standards and user acceptance criteria.
- 6Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, performing code reviews and promoting best practices in Tableau development.
- 7Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing Tableau reports and dashboards, ensuring high availability and data accuracy.
- 8Document technical designs, data flows, and user guides, facilitating knowledge transfer and maintainability.
- 9Participate in Agile ceremonies, providing estimates, status updates, and proactively managing risks to ensure on-time delivery.
Requirements9
- 18+ years of experience in business intelligence and data visualization, with a strong focus on Tableau development.
- 25+ years of experience leading Tableau projects, including designing data visualizations and managing stakeholder requirements.
- 3Expert proficiency in Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and Tableau Prep.
- 4Strong SQL skills, with experience in complex queries, data modeling, and performance tuning.
- 5Proven experience with the full SDLC, including requirements verification, design, development, testing, and maintenance.
- 6Experience working in an Agile development environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- 7Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- 8Must be a local candidate to Austin, Texas, willing to work in a hybrid onsite arrangement.
- 9Must be able to work on a W2 basis; no C2C or 1099 candidates.
