Overview
The Lead Carpenter owns daily field operations on luxury residential remodels across the Chicago area. You will lead hands-on carpentry along with crew and subcontractor supervision to maintain craftsmanship and schedule. This role offers a clear path to Senior Lead or Project Management and emphasizes mentorship, safety, and quality. You will join a collaborative team that values craftsmanship and long-term growth.
What You'll Do7
- 1Build precise rough and finish carpentry including framing, trim, and cabinetry preparation on luxury projects
- 2Lead daily jobsite operations to uphold craftsmanship, safety, and cleanliness standards
- 3Coordinate subcontractors and field staff to ensure efficient project sequencing
- 4Interpret blueprints and finish schedules to guide flawless field execution
- 5Maintain accurate daily logs and progress photos in Buildertrend for leadership visibility
- 6Identify field conflicts early and implement solutions to protect schedules
- 7Mentor apprentices and junior carpenters on technical craftsmanship and safety protocols
Requirements6
- 1Minimum of 7+ years of hands-on residential carpentry experience with strong framing and finish skills
- 2Minimum of 2+ years in a direct jobsite leadership or supervisory role
- 3Comprehensive understanding of all residential remodeling trades, building codes, and construction sequencing
- 4Proven ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and design drawings
- 5Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation to Chicago-area job sites
- 6Physical capacity to lift 75 lbs and perform continuous labor in varying site conditions
