Lead Analyst, Health Plan Data & Strategy
Overview
You will lead data-driven analysis for self-funded health plans, partnering with benefit leadership and wellness centers to shape plan design and reduce total healthcare spend. You build reporting frameworks, forecast trends, and evaluate clinical programs, translating complex claims data into strategic actions. Working with the Director of Global Benefits and reporting to the Sr. Director, you drive cross-functional initiatives as a lead individual contributor. What You'll Do10
- 1Analyze medical and pharmacy claims to identify cost drivers and utilization trends, recommending benefit design and vendor performance improvements.
- 2Develop trend analyses and forecasting models to support cost projections, budgeting, and scenario planning.
- 3Conduct benchmarking analyses to assess benefit program competitiveness and pinpoint gaps.
- 4Evaluate and recommend benefit design changes (e.g., medical, dental, vision, disability, life) to balance cost efficiency and employee experience.
- 5Define key financial, clinical, and utilization metrics, establishing dashboards in Tableau or Power BI to monitor health plan performance.
- 6Facilitate CMO involvement by preparing regular updates on clinical, utilization, and cost trends.
- 7Support evaluation of clinical programs, including case management, to measure impact on health outcomes and cost of care.
- 8Assess vendor performance with ROI analysis to inform contract renewals and strategic partnerships.
- 9Develop and present insights to senior executives, leading projects by aligning stakeholders and ensuring timely delivery.
- 10Identify opportunities to leverage on-site health centers to improve member outcomes and reduce external claims costs.
Requirements10
- 14+ years in healthcare data analytics within a health plan setting; self-funded experience strongly preferred.
- 2Prior experience in data analytics and financial modeling required.
- 3Bachelor’s degree in a related field; master’s preferred.
- 4Experience in a large organization (1,000+ employees) preferred.
- 5Advanced analytical skills with large, complex healthcare datasets, translating findings into actionable insights.
- 6Proficiency in SQL and healthcare reporting tools like Tableau, Power BI, or SSRS.
- 7Strong problem-solving and analytical judgment in complex environments.
- 8Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaborate across functions.
- 9Knowledge of HR software; experience with UKG and PlanSource preferred.
- 10Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
