LC-MS/MS Scientist, Method Development Austin TX
Overview
You own quantitative LC-MS/MS methods from development through routine testing at Ebien Labs, an Austin-based clinical laboratory expanding its diagnostic menu. You work hands-on with Agilent and Sciex instrumentation, collaborate with a small science team, and directly shape the lab's testing capabilities. This role stands out because you troubleshoot and optimize methods independently, not just run established assays.
What You'll Do8
- 1Develop and optimize quantitative LC-MS/MS methods for new diagnostic assays.
- 2Validate and verify method performance, including accuracy, precision, linearity, and sensitivity.
- 3Run routine LC-MS/MS tests and analyze data with Analyst and MassHunter software.
- 4Prepare samples, standards, calibrators, and quality controls per SOPs.
- 5Troubleshoot chromatography, mass spectrometry, and sample preparation issues.
- 6Perform instrument maintenance and calibration for HPLC and MS/MS systems.
- 7Document all method development and validation work in lab notebooks and ELN.
- 8Transfer validated methods into routine testing and train junior staff.
Requirements7
- 1Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Analytical Chemistry.
- 21+ years hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS instrumentation in a lab setting.
- 31+ years of method development experience, including optimization and validation.
- 4Strong knowledge of chromatography, mass spectrometry, and quantitative analysis.
- 5Proven troubleshooting skills for LC-MS/MS systems and assays.
- 6Ability to maintain accurate technical records and follow GLP and CLIA procedures.
- 7Experience with biological matrices (plasma, serum) is preferred.
