Overview
Own the operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of a state-of-the-art Phoenix laser system at our Denver headquarters. You will qualify as Beamline Controller, interact with the Shot Director, and execute critical procedures for laser experiments at scale. What You'll Do5
- 1Build procedures and shot operations infrastructure for the Phoenix pulsed power system
- 2Operate as Laser and Optics Controller during laser experiment runs and support the Shot Director
- 3Troubleshoot performance anomalies during shots and maintenance activities
- 4Perform hands-on integration and maintenance during maintenance and upgrade windows
- 5Develop and test calibration and alignment procedures to ensure optical performance
Requirements10
- 1Education: Masters or Bachelors in optics, physics or related discipline
- 2Experience manufacturing or operating optical hardware
- 3Willingness to work set 8-hour shifts with overtime during critical periods
- 4Ability to read basic optical specs of COTs and custom components
- 5Understanding of coating purposes, reflectivity, bandwidth, angle sensitivity, and damage threshold
- 6Proficiency with two aperture beam alignment techniques
- 7Ability to manipulate beam propagation and adjust focus positions
- 8Understanding of laser safety principles including eyesafe wavelengths and exposure limits
- 9Ability to handle delicate components and perform precise adjustments
- 10Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and be a U.S. citizen or eligible worker
