Junior Inspector, Construction & Electrical Systems
Overview
You will inspect the installation of a Laser Intrusion Detection System (LIDS) across 13 under-river tubes and 28 stations in NYC, ensuring contract compliance. You'll coordinate with MTA forces and contractors on a design-build project, managing daily inspections and reporting. This role demands night and weekend availability and offers direct impact on public transit security infrastructure. Work with a woman-owned owner's representative firm on a high-profile MTA project.
What You'll Do8
- 1Inspect daily construction activities on the LIDS installation, verifying compliance with contract documents across 13 tubes and 28 stations.
- 2Document daily labor, equipment, and work performed via Asite or approved e-project software, uploading reports and filing paper copies.
- 3Reject non-conforming work and notify the MTA C&D Construction Manager and contractor in writing.
- 4Coordinate contractor and MTA forces, arranging flagging, access, track outages, and work trains.
- 5Resolve field issues expeditiously, documenting problems and solutions for MTA C&D PM.
- 6Report deviations from contract drawings to MTA C&D PM with corrective recommendations.
- 7Oversee acceptance testing of LIDS equipment and recommend final acceptance to the Construction Manager.
- 8Update monthly Project Status Reports with inspection data and progress.
Requirements8
- 1Baccalaureate Degree in engineering/architecture or construction field from an accredited college.
- 23 years full-time construction inspection experience.
- 3Background in Electrical Engineering is required.
- 4MTA Track Training Card and PMG123 required.
- 5OSHA 30 certification required.
- 6Valid New York State driver's license.
- 7Available for occasional nights and weekends.
- 8Proficiency with MS Windows, MS Office (Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat.
