IT Systems Engineer Microsoft 365 Innovations Lab
Overview
We seek an IT Systems Engineer to lead our Innovations Lab and support Microsoft 365 at a hybrid location. You will own 60% lab infrastructure and 40% Microsoft 365 engineering. This role differs by focusing on hands-on engineering rather than help desk duties.
What You'll Do11
- 1Partner with remote lab administrator for 60% of lab tasks including racking and hardware installation
- 2Maintain on-premises virtualization solutions vSphere Hyper-V or Proxmox
- 3Design and manage physical servers networking and security devices
- 4Create and maintain cyber range environments for training and demos
- 5Support AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure with networking identity and cost governance
- 6Serve as technical authority for Microsoft 365 E5 tenant including Entra ID Conditional Access and App registrations
- 7Develop Intune configuration compliance policies and Autopilot enrollment
- 8Tune Microsoft Defender and Purview for sensitivity labels DLP and retention
- 9Automate administration using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph while documenting processes
- 10Implement NIST SP 800-171 controls for CMMC Level 2 readiness
- 11Collaborate with MSP and Microsoft support on tenant-level issues
Requirements12
- 1U.S. citizenship required for handling Controlled Unclassified Information
- 24+ years enterprise IT infrastructure experience
- 3Hands-on virtualization skills with vSphere Hyper-V or Proxmox
- 4Networking fundamentals including VLANs routing and firewall rules
- 5Microsoft 365 administration expertise with Entra ID Exchange Online SharePoint Teams and Intune
- 6Public cloud experience with AWS or Azure account management and cost oversight
- 7PowerShell scripting proficiency for automation and documentation
- 8Practical AI tool usage for scripting troubleshooting and knowledge base creation
- 9Compliance program experience CMMC NIST SP 800-171 or ISO 27001
- 10Bachelor's degree or equivalent certifications in IT related fields
- 11Preferred experience with cyber range red/blue team labs or training environments
- 12Small business or defense contractor background wearing multiple roles
