IT System Administrator, Tier 2/3 Support & Infrastructure
Overview
As the IT System Administrator, you own hands-on technical support for end users, systems, and escalated issues across onsite and remote teams. You'll combine Tier 2/3 helpdesk expertise with system admin duties like endpoint management, basic networking, and infrastructure support. You'll coordinate with a Managed IT Services Partner to keep operations seamless and serve as the internal technical resource for complex situations. This role stands out with direct involvement in cybersecurity initiatives and automation via PowerShell.
What You'll Do10
- 1Provide in-person support for walk-ups, onsite troubleshooting, and user assistance, resolving issues in real time.
- 2Action escalated tickets that require hands-on intervention or deeper organizational context.
- 3Support device lifecycle tasks including imaging, hardware setup, workstation refreshes, and physical inventory.
- 4Deploy and support onsite desk equipment and shared resources, ensuring seamless operations.
- 5Resolve software, configuration, and access issues, diagnosing root causes and implementing fixes.
- 6Perform hardware diagnostics, repairs, and replacements, coordinating warranty or vendor service when needed.
- 7Support networking components: switch port checks, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, and physical connectivity issues.
- 8Support cybersecurity initiatives, vulnerability remediation, and security awareness efforts, applying least privilege and MFA.
- 9Assist with IT projects requiring onsite presence, technical validation, or coordination with third-party providers.
- 10Maintain clear IT documentation and automate repetitive tasks with PowerShell.
Requirements9
- 15+ years of experience as a Helpdesk Tier 2/3, System Administrator, or similar IT role.
- 2Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Intune Autopilot.
- 4Familiarity with cybersecurity principles: least privilege, separation of duties, MFA, and attack surface reduction.
- 5Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
- 6Strong customer service and communication skills, with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- 7Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple priorities.
- 8Organized and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving and time management skills.
- 9Occasional after-hours support and travel up to 10-15% may be required.
