Irrigation Technician, Commercial Landscape Systems
Overview
You will own the installation, maintenance, and repair of computerized irrigation systems across commercial landscapes in Los Angeles. This role reports to the Commercial Contracts team, where you will work alongside landscape specialists to ensure plant health and water efficiency. You'll operate a variety of tools and power equipment, conduct site assessments, and troubleshoot electrical components. What You'll Do10
- 1Install, repair, and maintain commercial irrigation systems, including valves, pumps, and controllers, ensuring efficient operation.
- 2Conduct site assessments to monitor soil moisture and adjust irrigation schedules for local plant material.
- 3Dig trenches and lay piping in established landscapes, working in a variety of soil conditions.
- 4Install and program irrigation clocks and sensors to meet water usage goals.
- 5Troubleshoot electrical wiring and solenoids to locate and repair zone failures.
- 6Maintain inventory of irrigation parts and order supplies within budget.
- 7Document repairs and maintenance activities in reports.
- 8Operate vehicles and power tools safely, following OSHA guidelines.
- 9Collaborate with landscape teams to prioritize repair requests.
- 10Respond to emergency call-outs for broken pipes or system malfunctions.
Requirements10
- 12+ years of experience in irrigation maintenance or landscape installation.
- 2Irrigation Technician Certification (CIT) preferred.
- 3Knowledge of computerized irrigation systems and commercial controllers.
- 4Ability to read blueprints and as-built drawings for zone mapping.
- 5Proficiency with multimeters and electrical troubleshooting.
- 6Valid Driver's License.
- 7High School Diploma or GED.
- 8Physical ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and work in extreme weather.
- 9Mathematical skills for percentages and ratios in water calculations.
- 10Flexibility to handle shifting priorities and multiple projects.
