Industrial Hygienist - Radiation and Environmental Safety
Overview
You will own industrial hygiene assessments and exposure evaluations across Cedars-Sinai's clinical, research, and operational teams, protecting staff and visitors from chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards. You will partner with departments to translate Industrial Hygiene principles into practical controls, supporting a top-tier healthcare environment. As a key technical resource, you will drive data-driven risk reduction and regulatory compliance. What You'll Do10
- 1Conduct industrial hygiene assessments and exposure evaluations for chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards in clinical, research, and operational settings.
- 2Analyze incident and exposure data to identify trends and emerging risks, then recommend preventive actions.
- 3Serve as a technical consultant, advising teams on practical solutions that enable safe work performance.
- 4Support programs including respiratory protection, indoor environmental quality, chemical hygiene, and ventilation.
- 5Perform exposure monitoring and environmental sampling, including instrument selection, calibration, and interpretation.
- 6Evaluate engineering controls and protective technologies to reduce risk.
- 7Support research laboratories, clinical operations, and new construction by assessing hazards and recommending controls.
- 8Develop training and safety procedures that help staff understand and mitigate hazards.
- 9Lead investigations, audits, and risk assessments, partnering with stakeholders to implement corrective actions.
- 10Monitor emerging hazards and regulatory requirements, advising leadership on impacts.
Requirements5
- 1Bachelor's degree or higher in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Public Health, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- 2Three years of professional experience in industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, injury prevention, or exposure assessment.
- 3CIH and/or CSP certification desired; candidates with progress toward certification considered.
- 4Experience supporting healthcare, research, or laboratory environments preferred.
- 5Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and walk, sit, stand, and carry frequently.
Salary Insight
$108 - $175k per year
