Overview

You will design, program, and commission PLC-based control systems for custom HVAC equipment at a Houston-based industrial HVAC manufacturer. You will own the full lifecycle from concept to site start-up, working with engineering, fabrication, and field teams. The role offers direct impact on complex, custom projects across industrial and commercial sectors, with travel for on-site commissioning and troubleshooting.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Develop and test PLC programs for custom HVAC equipment from initial concept through final commissioning.
  • 2Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), including system start-up and troubleshooting.
  • 3Debug, troubleshoot, and modify existing PLC programs for installed systems.
  • 4Design and document HVAC sequences of operation and control schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • 5Perform electrical calculations (MCA, MOCP, SCCR, wire sizes) and select control components.
  • 6Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for controls and electrical systems.
  • 7Review and incorporate redlines and as-built documentation into project files.
  • 8Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, and field personnel to resolve technical issues and communicate design intent.

Requirements9

  • 1Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 28-10 years of experience in HVAC, manufacturing, or industrial controls environments.
  • 3Strong PLC programming experience, with Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley preferred.
  • 4Experience with HVAC controls, sequences of operation, and system integration.
  • 5Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and electrical power/control circuits (AC/DC).
  • 6Knowledge of HVAC components (fans, compressors, coils, heaters, controls) and ASHRAE/NEC requirements.
  • 7Ability to read and interpret customer drawings, specifications, and system schematics.
  • 8Experience with hazardous location requirements; IEC/ATEX knowledge preferred.
  • 9Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
