
Human Resources Generalist, Nonprofit & HRIS Operations
Overview
Own day-to-day HR operations for a 900+ staff nonprofit, supporting onboarding, HRIS data, benefits, and compliance. Report to the Associate Director of HR Operations and partner with teams across the Center for Justice Innovation. You will manage the full employee lifecycle from recruitment to offboarding while ensuring data integrity in Paycom and JazzHR. This role offers a chance to shape processes in a mission-driven organization focused on community safety and racial justice.
What You'll Do10
- 1Administer the JazzHR applicant tracking system during recruitment cycles, including background checks, offer letters, and I-9 verification.
- 2Maintain accurate employee records in Paycom, processing hires, terminations, promotions, and transfers.
- 3Generate routine and ad-hoc HRIS reports to support HR metrics and operational needs.
- 4Conduct periodic data audits in Paycom to identify and correct discrepancies, ensuring data integrity.
- 5Coordinate preboarding and onboarding orientations, including training sessions for new employees.
- 6Process employee separations in HRIS, submitting Personnel Action Forms and managing offboarding communications.
- 7Resolve timecard discrepancies and assist managers with timekeeping issues in the payroll system.
- 8Support benefits administration, including open enrollment, vendor billing, and employee inquiries for medical, dental, and 403b plans.
- 9Maintain organized employee files and records for compliance, assisting with HR audits and documentation.
- 10Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for HR processes, documenting workflows and system changes.
Requirements10
- 1Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field with 3-4 years experience, or Associate's degree with 7-8 years.
- 2PHR or SHRM certification preferred.
- 3Prior experience with JazzHR and Paycom preferred.
- 4Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- 5Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities.
- 6Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- 7Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- 8Analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to interpret data and generate insights.
- 9Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- 10Self-starter able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
