Overview

You will own employee relations, workplace investigations, and policy administration for a 1,000-person nonprofit. You will report to the Chief People Officer and General Counsel. You will handle complex cases, guide leaders through corrective actions, and keep the Employee Handbook current. You will use EthicsPoint to manage compliance concerns. You will partner with People Services to balance accountability with a People First approach. This role offers a chance to shape a mission-driven workplace culture.

What You'll Do8

  • 1Lead complex workplace investigations into misconduct, harassment, discrimination, and policy violations, interviewing employees and witnesses, gathering evidence, and writing investigative summaries.
  • 2Serve as the organization's primary resource for employee relations, coaching leaders on conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and corrective actions with a People First lens.
  • 3Develop and maintain employee relations dashboards, analyzing complaint trends, investigation outcomes, and risk indicators to recommend proactive strategies.
  • 4Own the Employee Handbook and HR policies, revising content to ensure legal compliance and alignment with mission and values.
  • 5Administer the EthicsPoint system, triaging and coordinating responses to hotline complaints, tracking case outcomes, and suggesting preventive actions.
  • 6Guide leaders through performance management and corrective action processes, reviewing disciplinary recommendations for fairness and compliance.
  • 7Deliver training on respectful workplaces, performance management, investigations, and HR policies to staff and leadership.
  • 8Partner with legal counsel on complex employee relations matters and maintain service level agreements for team and divisional leaders.

Requirements8

  • 17+ years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, 5+ years with an Associate's degree in HR or related field, or 3+ years with a Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field.
  • 25+ years resolving complex employee relations issues and conducting workplace investigations with formal report writing.
  • 3Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • 4Experience writing and editing workplace handbooks and policies.
  • 5Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • 6Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 7Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • 8Valid driver's license, active insurance, and reliable transportation for local travel.
