HR Generalist, Payroll & Union Relations
Overview
You will own the full HR lifecycle at Penn Terminals LLC, a privately owned marine terminal on the US East Coast, managing recruitment, onboarding, benefits, and compliance for a workforce of 300+ employees. Reporting to the Head of HR, you will partner with labor relations to support union employees and drive training initiatives. You will also lead HRIS integration, employee engagement, and safety programs. This role offers hands-on experience in a dynamic industrial environment with a focus on operational excellence.
What You'll Do10
- 1Manage end-to-end recruitment, from job postings to candidate selection, including seasonal hiring for peak cargo seasons.
- 2Facilitate seamless onboarding and offboarding, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal standards.
- 3Identify training needs, develop programs, and coordinate learning initiatives to boost employee skills and performance.
- 4Drive employee engagement with Udemy and other platforms to meet the 16-hour annual training KPI.
- 5Administer employee benefits programs, guide options, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- 6Manage FMLA and leave-of-absence processes, maintaining accurate records and legal compliance.
- 7Build strong relationships with union employees and collaborate with labor relations on collective bargaining agreements and labor law compliance.
- 8Support HRIS implementation, testing, and user assistance, including Paylocity and UKG integrations.
- 9Provide data and support for HR audits, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- 10Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives, including team-building, recognition, and wellness programs.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 22-3 years of experience as an HR Generalist.
- 3Strong understanding of HRIS systems, including maintenance, integration, and testing.
- 4Knowledge of employment laws, especially benefits, leave, and union relations.
- 5Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- 6Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain data accuracy.
- 7HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
- 8Experience with Paylocity and/or UKG preferred.
- 9Proficiency in Internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software.
