Housekeeping Aide - North Auburn Health
Overview
You will own cleanliness and infection control for a skilled nursing facility, serving roughly 120 residents across 3 floors. You will report to the Environmental Services Manager and work alongside a team of 4 housekeepers. This role stands out because you'll be the first line of defense against healthcare-associated infections, with CPC Card training provided. Your daily actions directly shape resident comfort and safety in a setting that values compassion over corporate.
What You'll Do9
- 1Dust, mop, vacuum, and disinfect surfaces in resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, and hallways, maintaining a safe and sanitary environment.
- 2Follow infection control protocols to prevent the spread of illness, including proper use of EPA-registered disinfectants.
- 3Restock cleaning supplies, toiletries, and essential items in resident rooms and bathrooms, using inventory tracking sheets.
- 4Dispose of trash and soiled linens per established procedures, using color-coded bins and bags.
- 5Follow the assigned daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedule, completing tasks within your shift.
- 6Interact with residents, families, and staff with courtesy and professionalism, adhering to HIPAA confidentiality rules.
- 7Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately, using the work order system.
- 8Maintain cleaning equipment, such as HEPA vacuums and microfiber mops, performing daily checks.
- 9Participate in monthly in-service training on new cleaning chemicals and infection control updates.
Requirements8
- 11+ year of professional housekeeping experience (hospital, hotel, or long-term care).
- 2Must be able to understand and speak English for resident communication and safety instructions.
- 3Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds throughout an 8-hour shift.
- 4High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 5Certification in CPC Card or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- 6Experience with EVS (Environmental Services) in a healthcare setting is a plus.
- 7Familiarity with OSHA guidelines for handling hazardous materials.
- 8Must pass a background check and drug screening.
