Host/Hostess, Fine Dining Restaurant (OpenTable)
Overview
You own the guest arrival experience at Genesis House, a prestigious venue in New York City, seating guests and directing the flow of the dining room. You work with a team of servers and bussers to ensure a warm, efficient welcome for every guest. This role requires 1+ year of host/hostess experience and OpenTable proficiency. You'll be the first impression for a world-class restaurant, with a schedule of Tuesday through Saturday.
What You'll Do8
- 1Greet and seat guests promptly upon arrival, managing the waitlist and seating chart in OpenTable.
- 2Direct guests to tables based on availability and preference, balancing traffic flow and server sections.
- 3Supervise dining room staff to ensure proper customer service and sanitation standards.
- 4Train new food-service team members on host stand procedures and service protocols.
- 5Oversee side work and station setup at closing, ensuring the dining room is ready for the next service.
- 6Respond to guest requests and resolve service issues with professionalism and discretion.
- 7Assist with bussing and food service during peak hours, maintaining food safety standards.
- 8Operate dining room equipment, including coffee machines and soda dispensers, safely.
Requirements7
- 11+ year of host/hostess experience in a full-service restaurant.
- 2Proficiency with OpenTable reservation and seating software.
- 31 year of customer service experience in a hospitality setting.
- 4Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during your shift.
- 5Flexible schedule, including weekend availability (Tuesday through Saturday).
- 6High school diploma or equivalent.
- 7Current food handler's permit (or ability to obtain one).
