Hospice RN On Call Weeknights
Overview
You will own after-hours hospice care for patients in the Kansas City area, managing symptoms and supporting families from 4 PM to 2:30 AM, Monday through Thursday. You work with a dedicated interdisciplinary team, collaborating with hospice nurses, physicians, and aides to deliver compassionate care. What You'll Do8
- 1Assess and document patient and family physical, mental, and emotional needs on each visit
- 2Consult with the hospice nurse on symptom management and escalate when needed
- 3Deliver prescribed physical and psychological care, coordinating with the attending physician and IDC team
- 4Monitor and record patient and family responses to care, adjusting as needed
- 5Maintain continuity through clear communication with families and healthcare professionals
- 6Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning
- 7Maintain home care supplies and manage documentation for accurate billing
- 8Assist with clinical billing and orient new hospice aides as assigned
Requirements6
- 11+ year clinical experience as an RN
- 2Valid and current RN license in Missouri
- 3Associate's Degree in nursing or related field
- 4Long-term care, home care, or hospice experience preferred
- 5Strong verbal and written communication skills
- 6Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team
