Overview

Own hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test systems for Low Voltage, Body Control, and Power Distribution domains at a leading automotive engineering firm. You will architect test benches, integrate dSPACE or NI hardware, and validate embedded controllers across Zone Architecture environments. Work with cross-functional teams to define test cases, automate execution, and debug real-time models. This role demands direct domain experience and a hands-on approach to complex vehicle electronics.

What You'll Do9

  • 1Design and build HIL test benches for Low Voltage, Body Control, and Power Distribution systems, including electronic fuses.
  • 2Develop plant models in MATLAB/Simulink to simulate vehicle electrical and thermal behavior in real time.
  • 3Integrate dSPACE or NI hardware, CAN, LIN, and Ethernet communication protocols into test setups.
  • 4Create and execute automated test scripts using Python or CAPL to verify controller functionality and robustness.
  • 5Debug issues in HIL simulations, trace failures to software or hardware root causes, and implement fixes.
  • 6Collaborate with software and controls engineers to define test requirements for motion control, thermal systems, and zone-based architectures.
  • 7Maintain and calibrate HIL systems for accuracy and repeatability across multiple test campaigns.
  • 8Document test procedures, results, and lessons learned to improve future HIL test coverage.
  • 9Drive continuous integration of HIL tests into the development cycle for early validation.

Requirements9

  • 13+ years of hands-on HIL testing experience in automotive or similar industries.
  • 2Direct domain experience in Low Voltage Systems, Body Control, Power Distribution (e.g., electronic fuses), Motion Controls, Thermal Systems, or Zone Architecture.
  • 3Proficiency with HIL platforms such as dSPACE or NI (e.g., PXI, VeriStand).
  • 4Strong modeling skills in MATLAB/Simulink for plant and component simulation.
  • 5Experience with bus communication: CAN, LIN, Ethernet, and diagnostic protocols like UDS.
  • 6Proficiency in Python, C, or CAPL for test automation and scripting.
  • 7Knowledge of power electronics, electrical load management, and fuse behavior in vehicle power distribution.
  • 8Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering or related field.
  • 9Working knowledge of ASPICE and ISO 26262 functional safety standards is a plus.
