Overview
You will operate a heavy end loader to transport pipe up to 50' long and loads up to 20,000 lbs. across an unpaved pipe yard in Houston, Texas. You will load and unload trucks, verify product movement with a portable PC, and maintain accurate inventory records. Your work keeps our yard safe, organized, and efficient. This role offers steady work with a major steel pipe manufacturer, where your operator skills directly impact daily output.
What You'll Do7
- 1Operate a heavy end loader to move pipe between processes, loading and unloading trucks with loads up to 20,000 lbs.
- 2Perform daily pre-shift inspections and routine maintenance on the loader, including lubrication and fueling.
- 3Enter and verify product movements in the computer system using a portable PC, ensuring accurate inventory records.
- 4Handle and store pipe per API specifications and customer requirements, maintaining proper dunnage and stacking.
- 5Keep the work area clean and organized, completing yard upkeep tasks like painting, cutting dunnage, and trash pickup.
- 6Collaborate with supervisors and team members to resolve issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- 7Follow all safety procedures, reporting unsafe conditions and using equipment properly to prevent accidents.
Requirements8
- 11+ years operating heavy equipment, especially in a pipe yard
- 2Forklift Training on large capacity lift equipment
- 3Valid Driver's License
- 4High school diploma or GED
- 5Ability to read and comprehend work instructions in English
- 6Skill in identifying and resolving problems promptly
- 7Comfortable working rotational shifts, weekends, holidays, and outdoors in all weather
- 8Proven teamwork, adaptability, and reliability in a team environment
