Overview
The Head of Operations leads the operational backbone for a venture-backed accounting services roll-up. This ground-floor leadership role offers direct access to the Founder and a clear path to becoming COO. You will diagnose issues between accounting practices and internal product teams driving feedback loops while balancing accounting quality and rapid scaling.
What You'll Do11
- 1Ensure accurate on-time delivery of accounting work across all acquired firms
- 2Monitor client responsiveness and adjust timelines accordingly
- 3Assess CAS and tax work quality to identify and resolve gaps
- 4Lead integration of staff through tool and process changes with buy-in
- 5Build and manage onboarding programs for quick ramp-up
- 6Own hiring and development of replacement talent during growth
- 7Drive process improvements and standardize workflows across multiple entities
- 8Act as primary diagnostic voice for product team shaping feature adoption
- 9Maintain operational performance through multiple concurrent acquisitions
- 10Collaborate with Founder on strategy and product team execution
- 11Balance accounting excellence with technology influence and team leadership
Requirements10
- 1Significant experience in accounting services delivery preferably client-facing or operational leadership
- 2Preferred CPA certification not required
- 3Demonstrated ability to assess CAS and tax work quality at engagement level
- 4Track record managing and developing accounting teams with training programs
- 5Comfortable in technology-forward environments engaging product teams
- 6Prior exposure to M&A firm integration or multi-entity operations
- 7Highly organized managing complexity across multiple firms simultaneously
- 8Resilient adaptable in fast-moving startup environment team-first leader
