Graduate Field Service Engineer, Power Conversion
Overview
You own installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of MV and LV power conversion systems on naval and marine vessels for GE Vernova. You work at customer shipyards and at sea, diagnosing faults and restoring service under tight deadlines. You join a team of engineers supporting Power Conversion projects for Navy, cruise, and offshore oil and gas clients. This role demands 85% travel and delivers hands-on experience with dynamic positioning and automation systems. You get direct exposure to complex electrification challenges and a clear path to senior field engineering roles.
What You'll Do9
- 1Install and commission drive systems, power systems, and automation systems aboard vessels during construction.
- 2Troubleshoot drive and control failures during port visits and at sea, implementing corrective actions.
- 3Develop commissioning and maintenance procedures to ensure technical integrity and safe operation.
- 4Execute customer training on GE equipment operation and maintenance.
- 5Identify sales opportunities for service agreements, spare parts, and system upgrades.
- 6Provide on-call support and respond to emergency service calls within 24 hours.
- 7Support engineering teams on customer upgrade projects with technical guidance.
- 8Complete service reports and administrative documentation within 48 hours of each job.
- 9Perform work on-board vessels in shipyards or offshore, following safety protocols.
Requirements9
- 1Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university.
- 2Associate's Degree with 1+ years of related industry experience considered.
- 3Strong fundamentals in Electrical Power, Semiconductors, and Digital Electronics.
- 4Physically fit to board vessels offshore and work in confined spaces.
- 5Willingness to travel 85% of the time on short notice.
- 6US Person status with ability to achieve security clearance for DoD projects.
- 7Pass HUET and offshore survival training including pool activities.
- 8Proficiency with MS Office applications and technical software.
- 9Background in customer-facing service environments preferred.
