Overview

As a GIS Analyst II, you will own geospatial analysis and mapping for utility-scale solar and BESS projects from bid to closeout. You will work with Civil, Environmental, and Construction teams to deliver engineering-quality maps and data. Your work will automate workflows with QGIS, Python, and LiDAR processing, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all project stages. This role offers the chance to shape spatial data standards in a growing renewable energy firm.

What You'll Do7

  • 1Perform advanced geospatial analyses for solar and BESS projects, including site suitability, terrain modeling, and drainage studies.
  • 2Design and maintain standardized map templates and symbology libraries in QGIS to ensure consistent, client-ready deliverables.
  • 3Build automated geoprocessing models and Python scripts to streamline repetitive tasks and improve data accuracy.
  • 4Process LiDAR point clouds to generate terrain models, contours, and elevation products for engineering use.
  • 5Integrate survey, environmental, and utility datasets into project geodatabases, validating topology and attributes.
  • 6Drive cross-team collaboration by providing timely GIS support to Civil, Structural, and Environmental teams.
  • 7Document workflows and SOPs to standardize GIS practices and support continuous improvement.

Requirements7

  • 14+ years of GIS experience in engineering, environmental, or infrastructure projects.
  • 2Bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, or related field.
  • 3Strong proficiency with QGIS; ArcGIS Pro experience is a plus.
  • 4Skill in Python scripting or QGIS Processing Modeler for automation.
  • 5Experience with LiDAR processing and terrain analysis tools.
  • 6Working knowledge of GDAL, GeoPandas, Rasterio, and open-source geospatial libraries.
  • 7Solid grasp of coordinate reference systems, data management, and cartographic standards.
