Generator Technician ERG
Overview
ERG seeks a Generator Technician to support inspection maintenance and repair of emergency and standby power generation systems at the Naval Support Facility Indian Head. The role involves preventive maintenance diagnostics and troubleshooting of diesel and natural gas generators while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
What You'll Do5
- 1Perform preventive maintenance inspections diagnostics and repairs on diesel natural gas and propane powered generators
- 2Conduct routine operational testing load bank testing and emergency power system exercises
- 3Troubleshoot mechanical electrical fuel cooling and control system issues
- 4Review technical manuals wiring diagrams schematics and manufacturer specifications to diagnose equipment problems
- 5Respond to generator failures and emergency service calls to restore critical power systems
Requirements15
- 1High school diploma or equivalent associate degree in facilities maintenance engineering or related field preferred
- 2Minimum of 3 years experience maintaining and repairing commercial industrial or mission critical generator systems
- 3Proven history of standing up PM program and familiarity with PM program metrics
- 4Working knowledge of generators ranging from small portable units to large industrial 500kW+ standby systems
- 5Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics wiring diagrams and technical manuals
- 6Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- 7Experience working independently and as part of a team
- 8Military federal facility or mission critical infrastructure experience preferred
- 9Pre-employment physical exam required
- 10Must lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds
- 11Must be able to perform work above shoulder level including reaching lifting and manipulating tools and materials overhead
- 12Must be able to stand walk bend stoop kneel crouch crawl climb and reach during shifts
- 13Must be able to safely climb and descend ladders stairways scaffolding and elevated work platforms performing work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet
- 14Currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance
- 15U.S. citizen required
