FTTH Network Technician, Fiber Optics & Telecom
Overview
You will own the installation, configuration, and testing of FTTH equipment in roadside telecom cabinets across Detroit, MI. Your work keeps the PON OLT systems and DC power infrastructure running for the entire network. You will work with the Network Engineering group and support field teams. Field support and collaboration define your day, with 50% of time outdoors in all weather.
What You'll Do8
- 1Install and maintain DC power systems, battery banks, and telecom inverters in FTTH cabinets.
- 2Test and validate new FTTH zones, confirming OLT and Ethernet device performance.
- 3Debug and resolve equipment failures in PON and Ethernet networks, restoring service quickly.
- 4Collect and update documentation for FTTH facilities, enabling accurate inventory and maintenance.
- 5Collaborate with the Network Engineering group to support field operations and new installs.
- 6Maintain relationships with contractors and internal teams to keep projects on schedule.
- 7Monitor facility sensor equipment and environmental conditions, preventing outages.
- 8Assist with FTTH network equipment inventory, ensuring parts availability.
Requirements8
- 12+ years installing and maintaining DC power systems, battery banks, and telecom inverters.
- 2Hands-on experience with FTTH services and equipment, including PON OLT testing.
- 3Proficiency in grounding and power cabling of telecom devices.
- 4Experience with facility sensor equipment and environmental monitoring systems.
- 5Ability to perform fieldwork in outdoor roadside cabinets across Detroit, MI.
- 6Strong troubleshooting skills for Ethernet and PON network issues.
- 7Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- 8Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in confined spaces.
