FT Center Store Manager, Grocery Retail Operations
Overview
You will run the Grocery Department at Food Lion store 02260 in Pittsboro, NC, owning sales, margin, labor, and shrink targets for a store serving over 10 million customers weekly across 10 states. You lead a team of associates, drive customer experience, and enforce food safety standards. This role demands a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced retail floor, with direct accountability for department P&L and compliance.
What You'll Do8
- 1Hire, train, and develop department associates, conducting timely performance reviews and coaching to drive productivity.
- 2Write weekly schedules that ensure extraordinary customer service, using ACIS and CAO ordering systems.
- 3Own grocery department financials: control expenses, order supplies, and manage inventory to hit budgeted sales and profit goals.
- 4Model friendly customer service and resolve customer issues using product knowledge to meet or exceed expectations.
- 5Enforce safety and food handling standards, correcting unsafe conditions and recording all associate and customer accidents per Food Lion policies.
- 6Monitor shrink through accurate inventory control, coaching associates to prevent losses and conducting bi-annual physical counts.
- 7Drive a culture aligned with Food Lion Guiding Principles, using company tools like financial reports, scheduling, and business information systems.
- 8Use CBT training modules and operational checklists to keep associates certified and update on policy changes.
Requirements8
- 1High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 21+ years retail grocery or store operations experience, with supervisory duties preferred.
- 3Certified Food Safety Manager (or obtain within 90 days of hire), accredited by National Registry of Food Safety Professionals.
- 4Skilled in leading and motivating a team, with strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- 5Ability to interpret financial reports and use ACIS, CAO, and scheduling software.
- 6Physically capable: stand 100% of shift, push/pull up to 2000 lbs with pallet jack, bend and lift products up to 100 lbs.
- 7Willing to work in extreme temperatures (hot/cold) for up to 20 minutes at a time.
- 8Compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, plus Food Lion policies and standard practices.
