Front Office Insurance Coordinator, Dental Practice
Overview
You will own patient insurance verification and front desk operations at Mill Creek Family Dentistry, a busy practice serving 200+ patients monthly. You will join a five-person front office team reporting to the Office Manager, working Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 7am-11am. This role centers on insurance coordination and patient relations, with direct impact on the practice's revenue cycle. You will use Open Dental daily to manage eligibility and pre-authorizations. The position offers a supportive team and growth through Mosaic Dental Collective.
What You'll Do8
- 1Answer multi-line phone system, routing calls and responding to patient inquiries about billing, treatment, and benefits.
- 2Verify dental insurance eligibility before patient appointments using Open Dental and insurance portals.
- 3Obtain necessary insurance pre-authorizations for treatments, ensuring compliance with company policies and state/federal regulations.
- 4Coordinate new patient and hygiene schedules, confirming appointments and maintaining productive provider calendars.
- 5Collect co-payments and gain financial commitment from patients, explaining treatment costs and payment options.
- 6Track new patient information and perform data entry with high accuracy into Open Dental.
- 7Build rapport with patients, acting as a patient advocate with empathy and adaptability.
- 8Assist with other front office duties as assigned by the Office Manager, ensuring smooth daily operations.
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or GED.
- 21+ year dental front office experience required.
- 31+ year dental insurance coordination experience preferred.
- 4Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- 5Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
- 6Patient advocate: empathetic, adaptable, and ethical.
- 7Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- 8Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- 9Prior experience with Open Dental software preferred.
- 10Ability to assist in other office duties as needed.
