Founding Full-Stack Engineer, EdTech & AI Platform
Overview
Own large portions of the codebase and shape product direction at a Y Combinator backed EdTech startup in San Francisco. You will work side-by-side with the founders on an immersive, short-form video language learning platform, spanning mobile, web, backend, infrastructure, and AI. This is an in-person early-stage role with meaningful equity and direct impact on architecture and culture.
What You'll Do8
- 1Ship end-to-end features from backend logic to UI to production
- 2Build high-performance mobile experiences with React Native
- 3Implement and maintain video streaming and HLS pipelines
- 4Develop AI-driven learning experiences using LLMs and audio/video models
- 5Design data models and performance optimizations in PostgreSQL
- 6Improve developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and observability
- 7Influence foundational architecture and product direction
- 8Move fast without compromising quality or reliability
Requirements12
- 13+ years of professional software engineering delivering end-to-end features across mobile, web, and backend
- 2Backend services in Go with PostgreSQL including data modeling and optimization
- 3React Native mobile app experience (Expo) or native iOS/Android
- 4Strong TypeScript fundamentals and knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, REST APIs
- 5Two compiled languages knowledge (Go plus Swift/Kotlin/C/C#/Java)
- 6Unit and integration testing experience and end-to-end test practices
- 7Scripting language experience (Python or Ruby) for tooling
- 8Unix-based systems, Git, and terminal workflows
- 9Familiarity with video streaming (HLS) and AI/LLM features
- 10Nice to have: Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure), GitHub Actions CI/CD
- 11Prior startup or founder experience
- 12AI development tool familiarity (Cursor, Copilot, GPT)
