Software Engineer, Early Stage AI Startup
Overview
You will build products from zero to one alongside a small, exceptional team, owning real problems from day one. This role sits on a founding team in New York (also open to San Francisco or Los Angeles), reporting directly to the founders. You will touch AI systems, infrastructure, and product code, shipping features weekly. The pace is intense, the expectations are high, and your work directly shapes the company's trajectory. If you thrive on ambiguity and have something to prove, this is the room.
What You'll Do8
- 1Ship AI-powered features from concept to production in your first 90 days.
- 2Own the end-to-end development of new product modules, from database schema to UI.
- 3Debug and resolve performance bottlenecks in real-time systems.
- 4Collaborate with designers and founders to translate rough ideas into working software.
- 5Build and maintain API integrations with external services.
- 6Write clean, testable code with TypeScript and Python.
- 7Deploy and monitor services on AWS using Docker.
- 8Drive technical decisions on architecture and tooling as the team scales.
Requirements8
- 10-3 years of engineering experience, with a strong portfolio of side projects.
- 2Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- 4Proficiency in Python or TypeScript.
- 5Experience with React or Node.js.
- 6Familiarity with AI concepts and a genuine curiosity about what they enable.
- 7Comfort working in ambiguity with minimal oversight.
- 8A builder's mindset, evidenced by personal projects or hackathon wins.
