Founding Engineer, Head of Engineering at AI Agent Marketplace
Overview
Own the full technical vision for a seed-stage AI agent marketplace at scale. Lead engineering culture and infrastructure as the company plans to grow to 50+ engineers. This on-site role in San Francisco requires hands-on building across the stack and strong system design instincts. You will shape architecture, tooling, and developer standards that will define the product for years to come.
What You'll Do10
- 1Build and own the 0→1 product stack from frontend to backend, delivering a real user-facing product
- 2Design database schemas, scalability strategies, and uptime ownership to support tens of thousands of users
- 3Lead hands-on development across React or Vue frontend and Go/Node.js/Python backend
- 4Institute AI-assisted development practices, including prompt libraries, skill templates, and code review standards
- 5Serve as the technical voice with direct user interaction to validate architectural decisions
- 6Define and instill engineering culture from day one to scale to 50+ engineers
- 7Ship architecture decisions that balance speed with reliability and long-term maintainability
- 8Collaborate with security and reliability teams to ensure robust production systems
- 9Mentor early engineers and establish best practices for coding standards and review processes
- 10Coordinate with product and design to ensure architectural choices align with user needs
Requirements9
- 1Proven experience building a product 0→1 and shipping a real product in production
- 2Fluency across the full stack: React or Vue on the frontend; Go/Node.js/Python on the backend; MySQL and Redis in production
- 3Strong instincts for system design: schema design, horizontal scaling, reliability engineering
- 4Bias toward quality and enduring impact: your work is used, not idle
- 5Willingness to work on-site in San Francisco
