Forward Deployed Engineer, National Security & AI Tools
Overview
Own deployment and operation of TRM`s platform inside customer environments including air-gapped setups. Ship code, design schemas, stand up cloud infra, and prototype capabilities to meet mission needs. You will work directly with government customers and often be the sole engineer in the room. This role blends software development, DevOps, and customer-facing work in high-stakes environments. You will translate user needs into working software and carry mission context back to product and engineering.
What You'll Do5
- 1Build integrations, data pipelines, and prototypes that prove out a capability before it becomes a product.
- 2Design and deploy Kubernetes workloads and diagnose issues in restricted environments.
- 3Operate TRM`s platform inside customer environments including cloud and air-gapped settings.
- 4Translate customer needs into working software and own outcomes beyond your slice of work.
- 5Act as the technical bridge back to product and engineering with mission context.
Requirements5
- 1Strong programming ability in Python and/or Node.js/TypeScript with fluency in AI tooling
- 2Hands-on Kubernetes experience in deploying and debugging real workloads
- 3Production AWS experience building environments
- 4Relational database experience with design and query tuning (PostgreSQL or similar)
- 5Concrete examples delivering outside primary specialty bringing new language, datastore, or platform to a project
