Food Service Specialist II – Addiction Treatment Center
Overview
You own food service operations at Valley Hope of Grapevine, preparing 3 meals daily for 365 days a year while maintaining strict safety and sanitation standards. You hold a Food Handler's Card or obtain it within 30 days, and you bring 6+ months of commercial kitchen experience. Your team relies on you to schedule dietary staff, train on safe food handling, and manage weekly orders to control costs. What You'll Do10
- 1Enforce safe food handling protocols daily, including hand hygiene, cross-contamination prevention, and temperature checks, documenting as required by supervisors or regulatory bodies.
- 2Organize weekly menus and confirm staff and patients follow recipes and ingredient lists, adjusting for census fluctuations.
- 3Prepare daily meals and snacks for patients, staff, and visitors, including special diet items per program guidelines.
- 4Store food items per state regulations and perform dishwashing and sanitization for all preparation and serving equipment.
- 5Train patients and staff on safety, hygiene, and dish sanitization methods to ensure a safe kitchen environment.
- 6Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces and equipment, including sinks, counters, ovens, grills, fryers, and serving lines, following schedules.
- 7Schedule dietary department staff to cover 3 meals daily, 365 days a year, and coordinate time off and rotations.
- 8Order weekly food, sundries, and cleaning supplies, matching quantities to patient census to minimize waste.
- 9Participate in dietary inspections, assist with post-inspection corrections, and provide training to team members.
- 10Provide input for employee performance reviews as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements8
- 16+ months experience as a prep cook, line cook, or in a commercial or institutional kitchen.
- 2Food Handler's Card or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- 3Previous experience training others in food preparation.
- 4Previous experience ordering dietary supplies.
- 5High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 6Specialized training in food preparation preferred.
- 73+ years of cooking experience preferred.
- 81+ year as a lead cook or team lead in a dietary department or restaurant preferred.
