Flexographic Press Operator, 2nd Shift Minneapolis
Overview
You will own setup, operation, and cleanup of flexographic printing presses in a 650-person manufacturing facility serving healthcare, consumer brand, and technology clients. You will follow ISO SOPs and daily schedules to produce labels and packaging to customer specs. You will run 2nd shift (Wednesday-Friday, 4:20 PM-4:40 AM), working 36 hours but paid for 40, plus $1.00 shift differential. What You'll Do10
- 1Set up and operate flexographic presses to produce labels per specifications, ensuring colors and registration within tolerance.
- 2Prepare all components for each job, confirming readiness from setup through cleanup.
- 3Monitor ink pH and viscosity levels during runs to maintain quality.
- 4Execute well-planned changeovers and setups to minimize waste and downtime.
- 5Clean anilox rolls and doctor rolls thoroughly to prevent plugging and ensure consistent performance.
- 6Inspect finished product, clearly marking good and bad items, and notify supervisor of any inconsistencies.
- 7Perform preventive maintenance on press as needed, keeping base rolls free of tape and debris.
- 8Follow ISO SOPs and safety protocols throughout all operations.
- 9Collaborate with support staff and next shift for detailed changeovers and continuous improvement.
- 10Assist in other shop areas as needed to meet customer deadlines.
Requirements10
- 1High school diploma or GED; vocational technical education preferred.
- 2Minimum 3 years of flexo press experience.
- 3Ability to stand for long periods and lift 50 lbs or more.
- 4Proficiency in reading, understanding, and speaking English.
- 5Good working knowledge of inks, including pH and viscosity control.
- 6Strong color matching skills.
- 7Ability to operate machinery comfortably and recognize different tooling types.
- 8Forklift training and certification (or ability to obtain).
- 9Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- 10Excellent organizational and communication skills for teamwork and deadline adherence.
