Overview
You will own fleet maintenance coordination for Birdville ISD, serving 30,000+ students across 200+ buses. You work with the Maintenance Supervisor to track work orders, manage inventory, and keep the Transportation Department moving. This role blends clerical precision with hands-on parts running, offering a path to Texas Class B CDL endorsement. You will own the workshop's record accuracy and supply chain from day one.
What You'll Do9
- 1Process work orders completed by mechanics, entering them into the maintenance database within 24 hours of completion.
- 2Coordinate parts procurement, tracking vendor orders and verifying delivery to the maintenance shop.
- 3Maintain inventory records using barcoding systems, performing weekly cycle counts to ensure stock accuracy.
- 4Run parts pickups from vendors and deliver to the shop, ensuring parts arrive within the same day for critical repairs.
- 5Track odometer readings for all buses, updating records weekly to support preventive maintenance scheduling.
- 6Prepare correspondence and reports for management, including DOT compliance documentation.
- 7Support inventory balancing by monitoring stock levels and placing supply orders as needed.
- 8Keep the warehouse organized and clean, labeling shelves and bins to reduce retrieval time by 20%.
- 9Respond to staff inquiries with accurate information, escalating issues to the Maintenance Supervisor when necessary.
Requirements8
- 1High school diploma or equivalent required
- 23+ years of clerical or administrative experience preferred
- 3Inventory or warehouse experience preferred
- 4Ability to obtain a Texas Class B CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements within 90 days of employment
- 5Pass a DOT physical examination
- 6Pass required background screening
- 7Proficiency in computer applications and office systems
