Firmware Engineer, Embedded Systems & Real-Time Data at Critical Loop
Overview
Own software spanning embedded drivers and backend services for distributed energy resources at scale. You will work across embedded Linux, device communications, data pipelines, and operator interfaces. Collaborate with hardware engineers to bring up field deployments and debug in environments where multimeters may be involved. This hybrid role blends firmware, backend, and data while delivering reliable, observable, and deployable solutions across sites.
What You'll Do7
- 1Design and build software spanning embedded drivers device communications backend services data pipelines and operator facing interfaces
- 2Develop the network communication and driver layers that power site controllers and distributed energy resources
- 3Build and maintain automated data pipelines for utility interval data analysis and real time energy monitoring
- 4Collaborate with hardware engineers to develop and iterate on embedded system designs
- 5Help architect systems that are reliable observable maintainable and deployable across physically distributed sites
- 6Participate in hardware bring up field testing commissioning and debugging of deployed systems
- 7Own features from initial design through deployment and field validation
Requirements5
- 1Proficiency in one or more systems programming languages such as c c++ or rust
- 2Experience with a higher level language used for services automation or data processing such as python or go
- 3Experience writing firmware drivers or hardware facing software for embedded targets
- 4Comfort working close to hardware including reading schematics debugging over serial or jtag and reasoning about timing and electrical behavior
- 5Experience building backend services and APIs ideally for real time distributed or telemetry driven systems
Salary Insight
$160 - $200k per year
