Embedded Firmware Engineering Manager
Overview
You own firmware development for advanced control and automation systems used in robotics and industrial applications. You lead a team of embedded engineers while staying hands-on in C and C++ for real-time systems. Your stack includes ARM Cortex, RTOS, and I2C/SPI interfaces. You report to the VP of Engineering and collaborate with hardware and systems teams. This role blends technical leadership with deep design work, shaping architecture for next-gen products.
What You'll Do7
- 1Lead the firmware team, setting technical direction and reviewing code for C and C++ real-time systems.
- 2Design and implement firmware for ARM Cortex microcontrollers using RTOS and bare-metal environments.
- 3Own the full lifecycle from requirements through bring-up, debugging with JTAG and logic analyzers.
- 4Drive architecture for communication protocols including I2C, SPI, and UART.
- 5Mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, and raise code quality standards.
- 6Collaborate with hardware teams on schematics and layout to optimize EMI/ESD performance.
- 7Ship firmware updates and ensure robust bootloaders and OTA mechanisms.
Requirements7
- 18+ years in embedded firmware development, with 3+ years leading engineers.
- 2Expert in C and C++ for ARM Cortex processors.
- 3Deep experience with RTOS (FreeRTOS, ThreadX) and bare-metal programming.
- 4Hands-on with JTAG/SWD debuggers and logic analyzers.
- 5Proven background in I2C, SPI, and UART protocols.
- 6Strong understanding of EMI/ESD design for industrial environments.
- 7Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
