What You'll Do9

  • 1Splice and terminate single-mode and multi-mode fiber cabling in data center environments, ensuring low-loss connections.
  • 2Prepare fiber cables by removing jackets, cleaning, cleaving, and installing protection sleeves for optimal performance.
  • 3Perform high-volume fusion splicing on loose tube, ribbon, and armored fiber cables using Fujikura or Sumitomo equipment.
  • 4Test and certify fiber systems using OTDR, power meters, VFL, and certification tools, documenting results.
  • 5Troubleshoot fiber connectivity and signal loss issues, resolving problems on critical network paths.
  • 6Read and interpret fiber matrices, rack elevations, and security system schematics to guide installations.
  • 7Coordinate with project managers and data center operations teams to align on commissioning and change management.
  • 8Work from service tickets to complete assigned tasks, updating supervisors on progress.
  • 9Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements, participating in safety meetings and training.

Requirements10

  • 12+ years of fiber optic splicing experience with demonstrated proficiency in fusion splicing.
  • 2Proficiency in ribbon fiber, mass fusion splicing, and high-count fiber cables.
  • 3Ability to interpret OTDR results and troubleshoot fiber loss issues.
  • 4Experience testing and certifying fiber optic infrastructure in data center environments.
  • 5Knowledge of fiber optic loss budgets, splice performance standards, and industry best practices.
  • 6Experience with Corning, CommScope, Panduit, AFL, or similar fiber optic systems.
  • 7Experience with ribbon splicing and high-density fiber deployments in hyperscale data centers.
  • 8Manufacturer training or certifications on fusion splicing platforms such as Fujikura, Sumitomo, or INNO Instruments.
  • 9Must be local to or able to commute to Columbus / New Albany, OH area.
  • 10Must provide ASTM-rated composite toe boots and pass background check and drug screening.
